Illustration Friday - Strength

Well Today is my 26th birthday and I'm starting to feel old. I know, I've got alot ahead of me and all that crap, but it still feels like I'm ancient. I guess that it's because I'm not as optomistic as I once was, Things that once held unimaginable wonder are everyday routines now. It would be so great if I could just go back and be a kid again, and rough house for awhile with childhood pals who've moved far away by now. It would be great if I was as optomistic as my Illustration Friday subject and could lift all these lame adult problems above me like that car. Oh well, I'll just take every day as they come. And do my best to keep a good attitude (and I tell ya, sometimes that can be a challenge). Let me know what you think of my entry this week. I really appreciate all of the comments on my work recently, thanks.

I hear ya Seth - and trust me, even when you get to the ripe old age of 34, you'll still be trying to figure out a load of that stuff - just gotta wing it and go with the flow, that's my motto!

This is a great illustration and reminds me of that story of the woman who lifted a car off her son, while waiting for the emergency services. I don;t know if it's true or not, but it doesn't matter.

It's all about strength of the heart and what drives you in the first place.

Good luck with all that stuff, and remember rough housing is good for the soul, you should never give that up for anything!

34? How 'bout 41! And my 81 year old friend and mentor likes to say, "Oh, well - you're just a kid!" Don't get down on yourself, Seth - just live life and jump for joy that your eyes pop open each morning and *surprise* - you've been granted one more day!

Another strong piece... I'm still gettin' that underground comix influence but a kid like you probably hasn't even heard of Robert Crumb. Keep 'em comin'... you got it goin' on!

Happy birthday, Seth! At the risk of sounding like grandma here (cuz I have you and Leeza and leif beat by just a few years :>), you're just getting started on a great rollercoaster ride...enjoy it for all its ups and downs...I could write several epic novels that would cover the amazing things that I've done between 26 and....Hmmmm...the age I am now! Anyway, I love this illo...you have such a strong style...and I see this as a metaphor for all the energy and power you have inside for the grand things to come. And BTW...my BD is on Saturday, so we're both Scorpios...always a bit too hard on ourselves, but fabulous nonetheless! Have a great day :>>>>

Sorry you were feeling jaded and pooped when you wrote this entry. I recommend Kay Redfield Jamison's book called Exuberance. She's a hotshot psychotherapist from the DC area, bi-polar, and a talented writer who talkes about embracing the highs AND the lows. I like your Free-falling person... and didn't see anything that looked half-assed... perhaps you're a tad self-critical? :-D
